Kloepper

This relative of Sheepshead is played in Columbia, in Monroe County, Illinois, USA. A 24-card pack is used and the permanent trumps are the black queens, all the jacks and all the diamonds - it differs from normal American Sheepshead in that the diamond queen is not a high trump and the heart queen is not a trump at all.

Kloepper is a four-player game. The holders of the two black queens play as partners against the other two players. A player who holds both black queens can call an ace whose holder will be his or her partner, or can play alone.
