Probability and Hand Analysis

The following programs allow you to analyse probabilities in various situations, or input hands to obtain a recommendation on how they should be played.

David Daniel's simulation package allows you to explore Poker probabilities in any situation by setting up the position you wish to study and generating a large number of deals consistent with that position. It is available from the Poker Wiz site.

The Hold Em Assistant performs starting hand analysis - required pot odds, expected win or loss percentage, and expected chance to make particular hands - for any hand against any number of players, and similar analysis on the flop, turn or river. It can also compare of up to four specific hands at any stage and give winning probabilities.

Poker Academy Prospector is a poker analysis package into which you can import your hand histories from a range of online poker rooms and obtain an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of your play and that of your opponents.

At the PokerGrader site you can upload your online poker hand histories (Party Poker, Empire Poker or Poker Stars formats supported) and obtain an automatically generated report analysing how well you have played.

From the Turning River site you can download free software for calculating the odds of winning or splitting the pot in various Texas Holdem and Omaha situations.

The Texas Holdem Calculator calculates winning odds, probabilities and optimal bets at pre-flop, flop, and river stages, and helps you to determine winning starting hands depending on the number of players in the pot. Available for Windows, Palm OS and Pocket PC PDAs.

Bad Beat or Not is a simple but effective odds calculator for Texas Hold'em. On the web page, you enter the hole cards and, if you wish, the flop and the turn for yourself and your opponent, and it tells you the odds that you will beat this player.

EV Tester is a small program in which you can enter your history of Texas Hold'em hands and find out whether you have been luckier or unluckier than average on a series of deals (purely in terms of the hole cards you were dealt).

Suit Gamer provides a free web based calculator for Texas Holdem, which computes your chnaces of winning, your advantage and the value of your hand, based on data you input on the number of players, cards held and community cards.

Poker Drill Master is a shareware poker training program that calculates pot odds and winning probabilities and outs, and enables you to test various pre-flop decision methodologies.

Poker Tester is an on line poker test which will provide a report on your playing skill and suggest possible areas for improvement.

OddsPoker.co.uk is a free poker odds calculator for Texas Holdem. You enter in the web page the number of players and your two hole cards and it calculates your odds of having the best hand. A similar calculation can be done after the flop, turn and river.

Software that provides assistance while playing online.

Poker Edge is a subscription service which tracks the behaviour of numerous players in a number of online poker rooms. Access to an analysis of your prospective opponents' past behaviour can help you to select a table and to exploit their weaknesses.

Poker Crusher database-driven tool that gives real-time stats on the strengths, weaknesses, and betting patterns of over 1 million online poker players, and provides users with access to these statistics.

Poker Office is a software package automatically tracks and displays player statisitics and betting patterns as you play Texas Hold'em online, and calculates and displays pot odds, outs and probabilities. Poker Office is free if you sign up through the Poker Office site with one of a selection of major poker rooms.

Poker Pal Original Odds Calculator keeps track of cards, bets, calls and raises during an online poker game and calculates winning probabilities and pot odds on the fly. It works automatically with over 100 different online Poker rooms and supports Texas Hold'em, Omaha (including hi/lo) and 7 Card Stud (including hi/lo). It will also calculate odds for card combinations you enter yourself.

Pokerbility is a poker odds calculator for use while playing Texas Holdem online. It provides odds information and recommendations as you play, and works automatically with selected online poker rooms.

Poker Evolver tracks your online poker sessions and provides analysis as you play, including identification of opponents' weaknesses, and includes a bankroll management system and many other facilities. It updates itself automatically to give you access to the latest features and retain compatibility with current online poker room software.

Released in 2005, Poker Sherlock, from the makers of Poker Pal (above), keeps track of your opponents' playing habits as you play online. Using information stored in a central database, it presents a range of up to date statistics in chart form.

Magic Holdem is an odds caculator that detects the state of your online Texas Holdem game and displays odds and game statistics in real time.

The Royal Flush Club's Poker Sidekick is a Texas Holdem Poker expert system that teaches how to win at Texas Holdem poker by monitoring your online play (at Poker Stars, Party Poker, etc.), and guiding you through how best to play each hand. Texas Calculatem is a poker odds calculator that watches you play poker online, reading the hands and position automatically, and offers instant odds and advice throughout the game. Works automatically with over 100 online poker rooms. From the Super Poker Affiliates site you can earn commission by selling this and a range of other poker software tools.

Holdem Hawk odds calculator works in conjunction with a range of online poker rooms to provide information while you play about odds, outs, and the strength of the available poker tables and other players based on their playing statistics.

Poker Sharpener is an online poker odds calculator and hand tracking tool which provides real time statistics and gives you the tools to analyze and improve your Texas Holdem game.

The Online Poker Tools site provides information and reviews of various software tools that can assist online poker players by calculating odds and recording and analysing game details.

The following software allows you to record various aspects of your own poker performance, to track your winnings and analyse various features of the sessions you have played.

The Edge Poker Software allows you to develop your Hold'Em strategy by tracking preflop poker stats and betting tendencies of your Hold'Em opponents.

The Check Your Bets site provides a facility for players to track their performance, recording and analysing details of time, place and results of each session they play.

PokerLedger is a free online poker recording tool with which players can track their earnings over time, write comments on each session, and find out how much they make per hour on average.

MacPoker Pro is an anlysis and tracking program for Mac OS X users. It will download, analyze, record and summarize details of Texas Hold'em hands played at a range of supported online poker rooms.

Poker @ VCFrontline offers 'pokerstats', a free web-based poker tracker, plus various other on line poker resources.

Poker Droid is a free program for tracking your poker statistics: tournament positions, earnings, return on investment, hot and cold streaks, and much more.

PokerTracking.com is a free web-based service for keeping track of your poker sessions and bankroll.

Software for Home Poker Players and League Organisers.

The Poker2night Tournament Clock is a Poker Tournament Clock and Blinds Manager utility for PC specifically designed for Home Poker Players.

Playing poker against the computer

With the following programs you play poker against computer (AI) opponents.

Poker Academy Prospector for Windows or Mac OSX provides a Texas Holdem game against AI opponents and can be used as a training tool, giving advice and commentary on your decisions.

Mobile Texas Holdem is a Texas Holdem program for mobile phones. Limit and No Limit games are available against 9 AI opponents. You can download a free trial version of Mobile Texas Holdem.

The Hoyle Poker Series for Windows allows you to play several types of poker against the computer, including Texas Hold'em, Stud, Omaha and Draw Poker. Draw Poker is also included, along with many other popular card games, in the Hoyle® Card Games (2007) collection.

Master Poker is a Windows program with which you can play No Limit Texas Holdem against computer opponents. Ring games and several tournament formats are available, and the computer players have varying playing styles for extra realism. The program can be configured to give advice on play with reasons for its recommendations. A free demonstration version is available for download.

With the DD Tournament Poker program you can play No Limit Texas Hold'em against computer opponents; it can also be used to manage the blinds, levels, buy-ins, rebuys, add-ons and payouts in a live tournament.

WebiPoker simulates a Texas Holdem style game with up to four players. In practice mode you can see all hands displayed and watch their winning odds change as community cards are dealt, or you can play with only your own hand visible, deciding whether to continue or fold at each stage.

You can download Maareyes Solomon's free Texas Holdem Video Poker tutor, in which you see the flop and choose which of five pairs of hole cards to play against the other four.

The computer program Ultimate Poker is available from Accidental Software

AI Software offers computer versions of Texas Hold'em, Seven card Stud, Five card Draw and Omaha Hi.

Vladlen Zeniukov's Poker computer program, which plays Draw Poker, Texas Holdem and Omaha, is available from his Card Parade web site.
